Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
|
The best way to join is to find a squadron in your area and stop by during a meeting for a visit. Once you decide to join CAP, a senior member will explain the membership application and dues. Adults must go through a fingerprint check to ensure the safety of the cadet members. Then you will receive your membership card in the mail. (Back to FAQ List) Aerospace education is one of the five aspects of the CAP Cadet Program. CAP offers several opportunities for cadets to begin the path towards earning their FAA private pilot license. Cadets have opportunities for orientation flights in aircraft. Cadets can attend one of several National Flight Academies during the summer. At an academy, cadets will gain 25 hours of ground instruction, 10 hours of hands-on flight instruction in a Cessna 172, and other time flying as an observer. Or cadets can attend another academy and receive glider instruction and flight time. (Back to FAQ List) As the Auxiliary of the US Air Force, Civil Air Patrol members wear a modified Air Force uniform. CAP cadets wear the BDU's (Battle Dress Uniform, or camouflage) for informal or field activities, and the Blues uniform for more formal activities. Both uniforms have distinctive insignia and patches that denote CAP membership. CAP senior members may wear the BDU's, the Blues uniform, or the CAP corporate uniform. (Back to FAQ List) |
